TICKETS NOW ON SALE!  For more information, visit us at decaturcitydance.org or call 404.378.3388.

The Junior and Apprentice Ensembles of DCD, 29 professionally-trained dancers ages 13 to 18, perform ballet, jazz and modern dance works by Associate Directors Leslie Gourley, Jessica Reese and Toya Willingham and resident choreographer Heather Yates.

AboutFace, DCD’s adult professional jazz ensemble, presents original choreography by dancer/directors Tim Meyers and Toya Willingham.  Ranging in age from 20 to 40-something, these dancers will perform premier and repertory works that include a contemporary modern work about a man stumbling into a woman’s world, a “straight up fun and funky jazz,” number, and a lyrical jazz dance choreographed by company member Cara Mills, her first work for AboutFace.  Ms. Willingham has choreographed a new dance that is “all about the hair.” She admits she might call it “Hairography!”

Youngsters and grown-ups who are young at heart can help Mother Goose search for her missing son Tom.  In this dance theatre show, you will see Mother Goose (guest appearance by Dee Wagner) call forth “The House that Jack Built,” and you will be entertained by three blind mice, Little Bo Peep and her sheep, Little Miss Muffet and a giant spider, and other Mother Goose favorites.

AboutFace

As the new adult professional ensemble of Decatur City Dance, AboutFace made its debut on October 1 and 2, 2010 presenting two shows in the Uhry Theatre at Druid Hills High School. Rave reviews are still coming in!

Under the direction of Timothy Meyers and Toya Willingham, About Face delights audiences with original, contemporary jazz choreography, leading them through journeys of emotion, evoking the passions of relationship struggles, self-discovery, and masculine and feminine aspects of life through dynamic dances that are athletic and explosive, soothing and light.

Ranging in age from 19 to 40, AboutFace dancers are trained and experienced professionals who believe their unique and compelling interpretations of the human experience through contemporary jazz choreography will kindle a wider fascination and enthusiasm for dance in the community. Toya Willingham of AboutFace grew up training at Decatur School of Ballet and performing with Decatur City Dance.  Decatur City Dance is pleased to add AboutFace, with its contemporary jazz perspective, to its family of dance companies.
